Toshiba Electronics has a new 50V / 5A rated bipolar stepper motor driver that supports 1/128 microstepping. The new TB67S128FTG meets the contradictory requirements of high speed, high performance and low power consumption, and is very suitable for the mixed use of modern applications, including office equipment, 3D printers, entertainment machines, cash dispensers and household appliances. At the heart of the new device is the company's active gain control, which optimizes the drive current to the required torque, preventing stalls and saving power. Compared to the 32-step of other driver ICs, this device reduces noise and vibration by providing 128 microsteps, and is popular in office applications where high accuracy and quiet operation are critical. It also includes optional Hybrid Delay (SMD)-a current regulation feature that selects the best SMD configuration and optimizes the drive current to fit the motor. The company's original current detection technology advanced current detection system can control the motor current without external current detection resistors, thereby reducing the space and BoM cost required for layout. High current drive (50V / 5A) facilitates higher torque operation, while low on-resistance (0.25Ohm) reduces heat generation. The device also incorporates a number of protection features, including thermal shutdown, overcurrent protection, and open circuit detection to detect motor disconnection. If a fault is detected, an error flag is set to ensure the safety of the device.
