Advantech has released the SQFlash 840F and 920F series that conform to the TCG-OPAL standard. Its SATA/PCIe SSD hard drives provide superior performance, durability and higher capacity for applications that handle sensitive data or require increased security. The series offers superior data security with hardware-based AES encryption. These advanced security features comply with US NIST's FIPS 140-2.

Currently, agencies in the United States and Canada require storage devices to meet security certifications to prevent data theft. To that end, the requirement for FIPS 140-2 certification for storage products used by the government/public sector will be enforced within three years. The storage products that have passed the FIPS SED certification meet the security storage requirements of the US federal government and follow the specified encryption algorithm to ensure that the internal data processing process of the SSD conforms to the NIST standard.

Certified solutions provide secure data storage for a variety of security-sensitive infrastructure, healthcare, defense, and financial applications. Many legacy industrial systems fail to provide acceptable security measures. Also as cybercrime grows, finding secure storage solutions for government, healthcare, financial and defense applications remains critical.

To meet various application requirements, SSD series products provide an AES-256 encryption engine that conforms to the TCG-OPAL standard to achieve advanced self-encryption. This encryption supports read-write protection controls and market-leading drive multi-user and multi-zone authentication mechanisms. These functions can be controlled using DeviceOn/SQ Manager's security package, available on Linux or integrated into the BIOS. Additionally, the firmware is assigned a digitally signed firmware code to prevent unauthorized changes to the root of the SSD further.

These devices gain further stability by POSTing all crypto-related hardware engines. Likewise, the product has physical tamper-proof protection to prevent data theft from external intrusions. These NIST certified devices are FIPS 140-2 Level 2 compliant and provide complete and effective security mechanisms.
