Texas Instruments TPS62743 ultra-low power DC-DC converter and related TPS62743EVM-689 evaluation module. This device is a high efficiency buck converter with ultra-low quiescent current of 360nA typical. It is optimized for use with 2.2µH inductors and 10µF output capacitors. The device uses DCS-Control and operates at a typical switching frequency of 1.2MHz. In power-saving mode, the device reduces light load efficiency to a load current range of 10µA and below. The TPS62743 provides 300mA output current. Once started, the device will operate over an input voltage range as low as 2.0V. This allows the device to be operated directly from a single Li-MnO2 coin cell. The TPS62743 is optimized to use a small output capacitor to provide low output voltage ripple and low noise. When the input voltage is close to the output voltage, the device will enter 100% ripple-free mode. This is done to prevent the output ripple voltage from increasing. In this mode of operation, the device stops switching and turns on the high-side MOSFET switch. The TPS62743EVM-689 evaluation module is designed to help users easily evaluate and test the operation and functionality of the TPS62743. The evaluation module converts an input voltage from 2V to 5.5V into a stable output. The output is set between 1.2V and 3.3V with a maximum current of 300mA. Applications include wearables, fitness, smart watches, health monitoring, BLE, RF4CE, Zigbee, efficient ultra-low power systems and energy harvesting.
