Texas Instruments TPS92512 / HV is a 2.5A buck current regulator with integrated MOSFET to drive high current LEDs. The company states that the LED driver has 42V and 60V (HV) input ranges, can perform peak current mode control at a user-selected fixed frequency, and provides excellent line and load regulation.
The TPS92512 / HV LED driver has separate inputs for analog and pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming without affecting brightness control, achieving contrast ratios greater than 10: 1 and greater than 100: 1, respectively. The PWM input is compatible with low voltage logic standards and can be easily connected to various microcontrollers. Using the IADJ input and an external 0V to 1.8V signal, the analog LED current set point can be adjusted from 0V to 300mV.
For multi-string applications using two or more TPS92512 / HV LED drivers, the internal oscillator can be driven by an external clock to ensure that all converters operate at the same frequency, reducing the possibility of beat frequencies and simplifying system EMI Filtering. Adjustable input undervoltage lockout (UVLO) with hysteresis allows flexible setting of start / stop voltages based on supply voltage conditions.
The TPS92512 includes cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown protection. It is available in a 10-lead HVSSOP PowerPAD package.
