TDK-Lambda launched the PXC-M series of 3X, 6W and 10W DC-DC converters. Medically certified devices are available in industry-standard DIP-24 packages and can operate over a wide 4: 1 input range. The highly efficient converter has 5,000VAC input-to-output isolation and is suitable for a variety of medical applications and battery-powered equipment. The PXC-M series accepts inputs from 9 to 36VDC or 18 to 75VDC and can provide output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, +/- 5, +/- 12, and +/- 15VDC. Working with nominal input voltages of 12V and 24V or 24V and 48V can reduce inventory carrying costs and increase parts availability. These devices measure only 31.8mm x 20.3mm x 10.2mm and can operate in ambient temperatures from -40 ° C to + 105 ° C (10W power derating is higher than 77C, and 3W models are derated to 94C). Optional features include output voltage regulation up to -10% to + 20% and remote switching. Overcurrent and overvoltage protection are standard on all models. For 24V input models, the no-load input current is only 6mA, and for 48V input models it is only 4mA, which makes it attractive for battery-powered products. The PXC-M series is fully isolated, with input-to-output isolation of 5,000Vac (2 x MOPPs) and patient leakage current of less than 0.25μA. The company said that safety certifications include IEC / EN 60601-1 and ANSI / AAMI ES60601-1 and carry the CE mark for low voltage and RoHS2 directives.
