Renesas introduces the smallest R-Car-based development kit to date-ADAS Starter Kit-Renesas-based high-end R-Car H2 system-on-chip (SoC) designed to help simplify and accelerate the development of advanced driver assistance systems )application. The new ADAS Starter Kit will complement Renesas ’current R-Car V2H-based ADAS development board, enabling users and partner companies to experience the enhanced computer vision performance of Renesas SoCs and accelerate dedicated hardware and software solutions for future ADAS applications Development of the scheme. The ADAS Starter Kit provides the most advanced computer vision performance through OpenCV, and provides high-performance graphics capabilities based on OpenGLES, enabling customers and partners to develop their ADAS applications on a powerful, high-performance platform. The new kit is powered by Linux based on the Yocto distribution, which is also used on other R-Car evaluation boards. The new starter kit is by far the smallest Renesas R-Car development kit, measuring only 10cm x 10cm, with pre-implemented interfaces and peripherals, eliminating the need for any additional hardware. The core board comes with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, 64 MB of QSPI flash memory, and a Micro SD card slot. This small motherboard also includes connectors for Ethernet, HDMI output and camera modules. Easy customization with integrated expansion connector. Users can easily design add-on boards that easily implement new use cases. The expansion connector supports interfaces such as PCI Express (PCIe), other display outputs, and the four camera channels required for surround view applications. The new ADAS Starter Kit features Renesas ’successful R-Car H2 SoC, is capable of providing more than 25,000 DMIPS, and provides state-of-the-art 3D graphics capabilities and a powerful vision processing core. The R-Car H2 is powered by an ARM CortexA-15 quad-core configuration running an additional ARM CortexA-7 quad-core. It also has Imagination Technologies PowerVR Series6 G6400 graphics processing unit (GPU). This GPU supports open technologies such as the OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenGL ES 3.0 standards. The IMP-X4 core provides real-time image processing, enabling system manufacturers to support compute-intensive visual operations. OpenCV support for IMP-X4 will also be provided. The R-Car H2 also supports up to four independent input camera channels for easy 360 ° camera view and object recognition-just an example of possible driver assistance functions. With these features, R-Car H2 provides the highest level of advanced security concept integration and enables developers to implement high-performance ADAS functions.
