The global leader in the field of integrated DC/DC converters - Ampwell Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. has launched a new series of four-way output products. This family of products features the industry's highest current density, highest efficiency, fastest dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) and transient response performance, as well as extensive fault protection features. Like previous members of the Ampwall family of integrated DC/DC converters, the new digitally configurable EP71xx family provides complete voltage regulation and protection without the need for external discrete components. In addition, the EP71xx series integrates the necessary system functions, eliminating the need for additional system components, reducing cost and reducing package area.

Ampwall integrated DC/DC converters are high-performance power management chips that use a single micro integrated circuit (IC) instead of a traditional power management integrated circuit (PMIC) to make energy-intensive, data-intensive electronic products more efficient, Smaller size and lower cost. An integrated DC/DC converter integrates the voltage regulator semiconductor and all necessary discrete components into a single device. This integration simplifies the design and implementation of voltage regulation circuits, improves system efficiency by eliminating connection losses, reduces susceptibility to electromagnetic interference (EMI), minimizes assembly components, improves overall reliability, and reduces space occupied by the printed circuit board (PCB).

The EP71xx series has a package area of only 5mm x 7mm and a height of only 0.7mm, and uses a single FcCSP package to provide up to 12A continuous current and up to 4 voltage regulators. This not only improves efficiency, but also reduces losses under various operating conditions. Ultra-fast transient response, supports regulation through load steps, and supports programmable "ExpressV" on-demand dynamic voltage scaling up to 6mV/ns. More than 1000 times faster than competing products, it enables fast, lossless processor state switching, which significantly reduces processor power consumption.

Mukund Krishna, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Ampowell commented on the launch of the new family of integrated DC/DC converters: "With the rapid development of data-intensive electronics, traditional power management solutions cannot meet their demands on power density. , simplicity and flexibility. Today, the new quad output family joins our line of integrated DC/DC converters, allowing system designers to reduce printed circuit board power management area and components by a factor of ten or more , reducing system power consumption by 50% and greatly simplifying system design.”

The new series of integrated DC/DC converters use a single 3.3V input and output currents up to 12A. The EP71xx series is available in a variety of models, providing 1 to 4 independent 12A output ports. The programmable output voltage is 0.5V to 2.5V, and the output voltage setting accuracy is +/- 1.0%. Built-in fault protection and early warning functions cover OVLO (overvoltage lockout), UVLO (undervoltage lockout), OVP (overvoltage protection), OCP (overcurrent protection), short circuit protection.

The EP71XX devices have a complete display that accurately displays voltage, current, and die temperature, and provides soft-start and DVS ramp speed programming via a digital interface. The EP71xx also features enhanced advanced features that provide programmable power-up/power-down sequencing, configurable logic levels, and programmable general purpose input and output interfaces (GPIOs) for custom system functionality. All configuration and diagnostic data are available through the standard I2C interface. Application scenarios for the new series of integrated DC/DC converters include optical transceivers, active cables, memory modules and storage devices, networking equipment such as GPON and fiber optic switches, PoL power supplies for CPUs, GPUs, accelerators and AI processors, and 5G systems .

Tim Phillips, CEO, President and Founder of Ampwall added: "Our mission is to provide high-performance, ultra-efficient technologies that minimize the energy footprint of the digital economy, allowing designers and system architects to The ability to quickly implement a power management solution that minimizes power consumption. The new family of quad-output integrated DC/DC converters once again witnesses the pace of our mission.”
